VOTE "NO" ON ARMENIAN RESOLUTION, H.RES.. 252!

ATAA and FTAA have jointly submitted to each Member of the U..S. house of Representatives a letter in opposition to H.Res. 252, an anti-Turkish and anti-Muslim resolution.

We encourage you to be good Americans and true friends of Türkiye, and contact your Member of Congress at: writerep.house.gov
This service is free, easy, and lets your Member know what you think quickly.

As Turkish Americans, please  sent  the following message to your representatives:
Please do not support a floor vote on H.Res. 252.  If it does go to a floor vote, please vote against it.  Armenian Resolutions are not a productive approach to resolve this matter, as they legislate a criminal conviction against people of Turkish and Muslim heritage, they legislate history on a controversial issue, and damage US interests in the critical region of Turkey.

Sacramento, CA - National and grassroots Turkish American associations joined power to defeat California Assembly Bill 961, a proposed law that sought to punish companies who did business in the Ottoman Empire or do who business in Turkey today.  The bill was introduced by Armenian Assemblyman Paul Krikorian and supported by nationalists Armenian groups. On the front line were activists from ATAA component organizations, the Turkish American Association of California (TAACA) and the Association of Turkish Americans of S. California (ATASC).  Ergun Kirlikovali and Karahan Mete lead over 25 local Turkish Americans to provide statements at the public hearings of the Business and Professions and Judiciary Committees.  An elderly Turkish American woman placed roses on the podium for each of her family members who were massacred during the Armenian Revolt (1885-1921), that caused the deaths and displacement of over 600,000 Muslims and Jews in Eastern Anatolia.

We have witnessed with great sorrow Senator Barack Obama's selection of Senator Joe Biden as his Vice Presidential running mate. Joe Biden has a clear bias against Turkey and Turkish people as proven by his actions in the past.

With all the evidence in hand, TurkishPAC does not believe that we will be able to change the anti-Turkish positions of Senators Obama and Biden.  If elected, their actions are expected to result in further deterioration of the already-fragile friendship and cooperation between Turkey and the U.S.
